The Changing Fashion Landscape - Poster Task

After listening to a lecture on "The Changing Fashion Landscape" we were asked to research current ethical issues in the fashion industry and how these related to my chosen brand, Victoria's Secret. I decided to look at issues surrounding Victoria's Secret and sustainability.

After researching this topic, I found that they are one of the worst offending companies based on their attitude and actions towards helping the environment. After singing up to Greenpeace's International Detox campaign, which seeks to eliminate the use of hazardous chemicals in the production of fashion products, Greenpeace found that Victoria's Secret had done extremely little to commit to the campaign. One thing that Victoria's Secret has done is become more open about the type of chemicals produced by the production of their products and the amount of said chemicals being released.

At the bottom of my poster, I included a few brands such as OrganicBasics, Boody and Baserange who all produce underwear but do so in an environmentally friendly way by means such as using bamboo grown in regenerating forests that require much less water than cotton. BaseRange works closely with their vendors to produce high quality material from natural fibres and recycled material.

From this information I have gathered, it is clear to see that Victoria's Secret needs to make a change in the way they produce their products. I will be able to talk about this in my brand marketing report as a new marketing strategy could be to do with a more environmentally friendly range of underwear.
